A Friend who has been married to a thai lady for 15 or so years would now like to have an extension of his non-o based on marriage thus no need to return home to renew each year.

His wife phoned the Kohn Kaen officer in charge, (lady ex-Nong Khai), and was told by her that the requirement is for 800K and not 400K in the bank for two months, I'm pretty sure that the requirement if for 400K to be in the bank - Have the rules changed?

Is there a document either in Thai or English that states what the requirements are?

400K Baht for extension based on marriage.

However if the husband is over 50 years, most immigration officers will push for an extension based on retirement, as much less paperwork is involved (basically only paper from the bank and bank book), and they can give the extension on the spot without involving Bkk head quarters.

This extension requires 800K Baht.
