November 3, 200916 yr Excuse me if this topic has been covered - I have done a search - with no results. Here's the situation. I am a Canadian/Brit - 62 now and soon to retire with my Thai wife to some land we will buy in Petchabun Province (In her name of course). We plan on growing Teak, Figs and other fruits trees as a business venture. She is an accountant in Thailand, so that will help. I am assured I can own 49 % of the business. I expect my son, by a previous relationship to a Canadian, who is currently 15, will want to join us for long periods - I hope so anyway. Does anyone know if he will be able to obtain an extended visa as a business partner? (part of my 49%) I understand that a lawyer will probably be a useful avenue when the time gets closer, but thought someone may have already travelled this road and can give me some pointers. As a manager of the business, would that be sufficient reason for him to obtain an extended visa? I'm all ears.
November 3, 200916 yr You have a Thai wife - you do not need to worry about any business to obtain visa for you or your son (for next 5 years) if you can meet the 400k in bank or 40k income requirements for one year extension of stay.

November 3, 200916 yr Since the son is of a previous relationship, wouldn't it be possible for the OP's wife to officially adopt his son? This could make life easier in the future regarding visa and WP issues. opalhort
