Hitachi Breadmaker Problems

Featured Replies

My 6 month old Hitachi breadmaker worked good for 5 months, then started baking bricks, [1 yr warantee] so I sent it to the main BKK Hitachi service center and after a month, they returned it still not working properly and I think I am due a refund or replacement. Friend tells me that that the govmt just started a consumer protection agency in LOS. Does anyone know how to contact and do they speak English??

Are you sure the yeast you are using is okay?

Yes, yeast is good. Did the warm water and sugar 'proof test' and also used the same yeast to make bread by hand. It's not the yeast for sure and I'm using the same recipe that has always worked and tested ok with my neighbor's breadmaker. The problem is most probably in the control chip that tells the machine what and when to do it's thing. The 'dodos' in the BKK hitachi service just tested it to see it it turned [by their own admission] and didn't actually bake a loaf. What else would you expect in the land of rice??

Now they want me to return the machine again, but meanwhile I would like to get contact of this new Thai consumer protection agency because I'm sure it is going to be a drama to get any kind of refund/exchange/justice. anyone know of the agency??

You do realise that involving the TCPA will extend your ordeal by centuries? Bread will no longer be in fashion. If it were me, I would pack the thing up and send it collect to the head of the company with a nasty note. But hey, I am asshol_e. :)

Possibly getting too hot during the time the bread should rise, do you have a thermometer? Not sure what the exact temperature should be but I think any more than 45 would be too much.

Could be that Garyth......so if true, then it is the control [computer chip/brain] of the machine and it is failing. That's the beauty of breadmakers is that you just put the stuff in/push a couple of buttons and in 4 to 5 hrs, you have delicious fresh bread. mine was that way for 5 months and I'm spoiled, but I will make that suggestion to Hitachi.

and, James.....you have every right to be an assho-e, but another good suggestion.....does the Thai post have collect shipments??
