Hi guys,

I have to spend one night in Bangkok, Dec 22nd (land 7:30pm on a tuesday) and transfer down to Koh Samui the next day at 10:30am. I've been to Thailand in February of this year, but only to the south (phuket, phi phi, koh samui and koh phangan).

I would like to make the most of my time in Bangkok but have no idea which province/district to stay in. I dont go to Thailand for the prostitution, it makes me sick. I would like to go somewhere where there are 0 prostitutes and maximum tourists. I hated phuket and bangala road, so please don't suggest places that resemble that. Places like ibiza beach bar on phi phi or green mango in Koh Samui. I don't really have time to experiment with Bangkok as I am only there for such a short time.

Thanks

Book into an airport hotel and get some kip. Not much point in doing anything else on that timescale.

Or try to get the last flight to Samui and party in Green Mango.

Stay at the Baiyoke Tower Hotel (tallest building in Bangers).

Don't worry about girlie nightlife being in your face (it's a half-decent tuk-tuk ride to the nearest 7/11 even - although you might see the odd Thai girl, even at the Baiyoke).

It really is about time we made the bitches ring a bell as they progress along the street, like the squid vendors do.

Or you could stay at the airport.

Or you could just cut Thailand out entirely and go back to Ibiza.

Not sure why I disliked Samui so much at the time (I think your mates were there - but we'll put that down to coincidence).

Yup. Baiyoke Hotel.

Deffo.

you could just head to night-market, have a dinner, listen to some (not always great) music, shop around the stalls, and if you love jazz jam sessions, head to Monkey Joes.

Then get some sleep and enjoy your flight to CM.

Yet another innocent Newbie put to the knife by the old crones? Or maybe I'm missing the subtlety of treatment afforded to a troll?

Not a lot of time but I would check into a hotel near the river. The new Satorn Grace is quite cheap off Satorn Road on Soi 11 and very nice. Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin and take the Milliminium Hotel Boat which runs every 15 minutes to there hotel but when u get off go directly to the left to "Be My Guest" restaurant. Nice local and cheap with great view of the river and live music. If you want to splurge go into the Millinium Hotel and go to the sky bar and have a drink as there is also good music upstairs with fantastic view of Bangkok Skyline.

Go down to Hua Hin. Very nice and family-orientated. Plenty of restaurants and a few good bars with 0 hookers in them.

Think, you have missed the part with his arrival and departure times from Swampy.

OP: If you not into nightlife, skip BKK. Better try to get the connection to Samui when you arrive. Sometimes there are seats available at the check in counter of Bangkok Airways.

Geek, do you mean the Nana Cultural Centre Plaza ?

Just the place for this culture lover.

Yep that's it, the NCCP.

If you walk past the large Buddhist / Animist Spirit house on the bottom floor there are steps leading up to three levels of cultural exhibits on display.

Now you're just being mischeivous.
