Moving To Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm 24 year old guy wanting to move to Bangkok for a change, but I'm unsure where is the best place for me to stay. I want a cheap studio (not too far from a good/cheap gym). I also usually eat at cheap thai food stalls and likes to be around people my own age(20-30). I have been staying in Khao San Rd before and found it very interesting as I frequented thai people working in normal jobs and not just bargirls like in Pattaya. I really liked it, but was wondering if there is any alternatives?

Can someone recommend any places for me? is Khao San Rd my best option or is there any similar places?

Cheers :)

yes, if you are alone and need a small place, than banglampoo area is the best for safety and entertainment. There are apartments for thai within walking distance - around 7k/month + renting furniture + bills

Or if you want to pay less for more upscale digs, go across the river to Pinklao. There are 3 different condo buildings on Pinklao road as you approach Central Pinklao. There are also countless apartments in the area. How long do you plan to stay? If more than a couple of months, I'd suggest staying at whatever place you know in KSR and then spend a day or two exploring Pinklao. I'm sure you'll find what you want.

Agreed... Pinklao is a great alternative. Or even closer, on the same direction: Pata check around the old department store. It's a 20 bahts moto-taxi to the river and then 3 bahts for ferry crossing.

Whats his idea of cheap?
