My mother has come over to visit me near Nakhon Phanom is it possible to extend a 30 day visa on arrival if she wants to stay another month rather than her going to do a border run to Thakek anyone have similar experience or can offer the best advice?

7 days is probably as much as you can get, If you had her do a border hop, and if she reentered at a land entry she would only get 15 days. You have to fly in to get 30 days.

She can do the border hop two times without any issues if that is convenient.

Thanks guys it was the border run I was trying to avoid as she is elderly and not done it before looks like thats the only option though.

She should have had a free tourist visa - but now either two border runs or take an overnight to Vientiane and obtain a tourist visa there. That would make only one trip required and she would see something new. But do use someone to obtain the visa for her as it is very crowded with long lines.

Or if cash is available a quick air trip to Singapore or somewhere and return would be 30 days. But that requires extra travel
