Thank you for clearing this matter up. After subscribing to The Nation for several months I was under the impression that The Nation was a parody newspaper and the "stories" not factual.

Checked out the notthenation website, and boy, what a laugh!

Given the current climate in LOS it's almost understandable that the OP mistook the NTN piece for a real news story.

Says a lot about a country when a parody makes as much sense as reality.

On that basis we in the UK would have believed Spitting Image was a serious current affairs program..............

.................wait a minute, it WAS a p1ss take wasn't it? :)

:) !!!

To be honest, good parody usually succeeds in pointing out very real issues in the things that are being made fun of. So I wouldn't discount is as 'just a joke site'.

> On that basis we in the UK would have believed Spitting Image was a serious current affairs program...

While a fun program, you would learn quite a bit about Britain and British politics watching it, right? Or, watching TheDailyShow.com these days on US politics.

And if Thailand keeps going this way, it may be the ONLY way to voice criticism. The Porntip story is indeed a brilliant example; you can NOT tackle the underlying topic in any other way, and wouldn't advocate doing so for any journalist, scholar, blogger or forum poster.
