Does anybody know anything about noise cancelling earphones?

1. Do they block out all noise?

2. Would they E.G. block out power saw noise from neighbouring property 100%?

3. Can one listen to music/chat from internet at the same time as the product blocks out unwanted noise?

4. Where can one purchase in Hua Hin area?

6. Who is best producer of earphones?

7. Is the BOSE product any good, for example?

Moved to the country/beach to get away from city noise and what a laugh-noisier than in Sukhumvit Soi 4, police box!!!

Thanks.

google it. not as simple as you think.

1. do not block all noise.

2. most likely no

3. possibly

6. debatable. many good brands out there. the bigger and more cushioned the better.

7. yes and no. there isnt any single one company thats best but rather each specific model is different.

basically it would cancel out BACKGROUND NOISE thats constant and within a certain frequency. eg if someone shouts at you its sudden and completely different frequency so u will hear it. A chainsaw it might quieten down considerably but not cancel out completely.

Active Noise cancelling headphones work by using a microphone to sample external noise factors and then endevours to create an 'opposite but equal' white noise thereby negating the external sources.

Therefore:-

1. No most offer ranges between 70 up to 90 percent. In most cases this is the 'airplane test' combating engine drone

2. Short bursts of noise would be, by definition, the most difficult to reduce. Also where the frequency varies there is same issue.

3. Eh.. yes, that's the idea :)

4. Pass [i'm in Bangkok]

5. There is no 5 :D

6. Any audiophile will have their favourites, and I'm not going there. The technology is pretty consistent the argument is in the application of it.

7. BOSE are, in my opinion expensive when compared to their peers.

Regards
