30 Day Visa Exempt Stamp Upgrade To Non O. Is It Possible?

Featured Replies

Situation is that husband has O visa (Retirement) and wife has 30 day visa exempt stamp. Can she upgrade from 30 day visa exempt stamp a Non O at Immigration or must she leave country to apply for visa.?

Believe she will have to leave country to obtain the visa using copy of husbands passport/one year permitted to stay stamp. Husband must have a one year permitted to stay (you did not say he does). After entry with that visa she would be able to obtain matching extension of stay.

That is my understanding too. To apply for extension of stay as a dependant, the wife has to start the process with Non-O visa and cannot go through conversion process (from visa exempt entry). As said, the husband needs to be on extension of stay to support the dependant's own application for extension of stay.

Thanks, guys. That is also my understanding but wanted to confirm.
