My School Insist My "o" To A "b"

My School Insist I change My non "o" To A "b"

I'm just starting work at a school for the first time here in Roi--et.

I have a multi entry non immigrant visa type "O" issued in the uk that is valid until the end of August 2010.

A couple of years ago, I was able to get a work permit based on my type "O" with no problems, but this was not for work in the teaching arena.

This school are insisting that I have to change my O to a B, even though the local work permit office have confirmed they will issue the WP based on my O. They said somethng about the teachers council insisting that new teachers have non B's.

I would like to know where I must go to do this?, is it Bangkok? and where?

The local immigration office for me is now in Amnat Charoen....as per recent geographical changes to where one can go to get service, previously I would have attended Nong Khai or Muhkdahan.

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this, I did do a search of the forum but could find any recent info on this topic.

The Labour Department is correct in saying that WP can be issued on either Non-B or Non-O visa.

Maybe best to ask in the Teaching forum about the Teachers Council.

Yes you can work with a Non O Visa.
