How much it cost to import a car from Japan ? Taxs and shipment ?

Ask the Custom Departement. Usualy 200 to 300% of the price the custom will estimate on your car, not on the price what you paid in Japan.

Have the car reg in your name in Japan, ship it to malaysia and have it approved for use there for 6 months, drive it to LOS and have it appoved to use here for 6 months. Within every 180 days car must put of LOS( back to malaysia?) and then apply new approval to use here.

Had a friend who imported a car from Europe to Cambo, registered his car there with cambo plates, came to Pattaya a couple of times, but one day they refused him to get the permit to cross the border to Thailand. They aren't stupid, they know.

I'd like to say that the Japanese - Thailand free trade agreement will in the next few years make it a lot better and easier to import cars......but I can't!

Sadly, what benefit comes out of that agreement is very little. But, on the other hand, if your importing bikes from Japan, the situation will get slowly better over the next several years.

Cars aren't soooo expensive here. Specially made in Thailand cars aren't. Consider for examplke Brasil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Danemark or some Scandinavian countries and you'll find out that cars in Thailand aren't so expeisive. You can't always comjprare with US or Germany, you have to see it worldwide. Roadtax, insurance and labour is very cheap overhere. I could ask the same: Why painting a whole car is so expensive in California or Munich for example or why insurance and roadtax is so espensive in Europe? Every country have different rules and laws. Anyway if i could, i would liketo drive a Corvette instead of some local made cars. But there is no way. I understand that because the goverment protect their own economy that peaple buy "Made in Thailand" cars. Not what i like, but we have to accept the rules!

This is a real big problem to me, i just want to pay the real price. I will look for a repossession car.

Good idea, go to some Auction places (no want to mention any names) in Bangkok and you'll find out that the marked cars, like Toyota Honda, Isuzu, etc are almost at the same value as from some car tent. The difference is only that you CAN'T test drive it at the auction. Specially Hondas have many troubles with their Auto Gear boxes after 80'000k. Plus you have to pay auction fee plus 7% VAT on the price you bit.
