I met my Thai lady online back in April. I came out to Thai and met her for the first time face to face on the 31st October. Yes we 'clicked' - big time! Now we want her to come to the UK on a fiance visa, but I have been told we would not get one until 6 months after first face to face meeting i.e. end of April. Need less to say we are well gutted by this news. is this really the case? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will have to provide proof of contact, that may be the down fall. On line does not realy count.you will have to provide Photos phone bills any E mails ext ext.

There is no stipulation in the law that says someone will only be issued with a fiancé(e) visa once the parties have physically known each other for six months.

The test, essentially, is the strength and depth of the relationship. If you feel that you are able to show that your relationship is meaningful and that you intend to stay together, there is no reason why your fiancée should not apply now.

Scouse.

As advised to you via our conversation each case is judged on its own merits, i believe you took advice from another source not registered to give immigration advice you must demonstrate to the ECO your relationship is subsisting etc plus you must meet various other criteria as per the immigration rules.

H1lander, as said above, there is no minimum time a couple needs to have known each other before applying for a Fiance Visa. However, a Fiance Visa is a form of settlement visa issued so that the holder can come to the UK, marry their sponsor and then apply for settlement in the UK as their sponsor's spouse. Are you sure that this is what you both want after knowing each other for such a short period?

If so, you may find the following helpful:-

Maintenance and accommodation

SET01- Fiancé(e)s

If, however, all you both want at this stage is for her to visit you in the UK then a visit visa would be more appropriate.
