Hi All,

My Wifes Thai passport expires soon, well a few months. She has ILR and is residing in the UK. What do we have to do to get a new passport and ILR stamp to continue on?

and apply now at the Thai Embassy London for a new passport. The epassports are made in Bangkok and take some weeks to come through.

There is actually no need to pay to transfer her ILR stamp to a new passport; the stamp will be valid even if the passport it is in has expired. Many people save the exorbitant fee and simply carry both old and new passports.

My wife came through Heathrow last week with her new Thai passport and her old one with the UK visa in it, no problem at all.

Howlong does it take to get the passport in the UK and do they only do them from London or can you get from Hull Consulate?

In-person application at Embassy required:

Please be informed that the process of applying for a new passport takes 6-8 weeks as the new passport must be issued by the Consular Department in Bangkok, Thailand.

You have to actually go to London to get it??? Honestly, you must be able to do by post? Aww well if not we can always look at the Thames ...again...

The Thai Embassy website in UK is a little unclear... epassport can be done without attending and you do not need to collect as it is a renewal ...?

Maybe a "Epassport Facts Roadshow" could explain that?
