November 27, 200916 yr Hi All, My Wifes Thai passport expires soon, well a few months. She has ILR and is residing in the UK. What do we have to do to get a new passport and ILR stamp to continue on? Thanks
November 27, 200916 yr Transfer your visa to a new passport and apply now at the Thai Embassy London for a new passport. The epassports are made in Bangkok and take some weeks to come through.
November 27, 200916 yr Thai embassy passport page (it's in Thai). There is actually no need to pay to transfer her ILR stamp to a new passport; the stamp will be valid even if the passport it is in has expired. Many people save the exorbitant fee and simply carry both old and new passports.
November 27, 200916 yr My wife came through Heathrow last week with her new Thai passport and her old one with the UK visa in it, no problem at all.
November 28, 200916 yr Author Howlong does it take to get the passport in the UK and do they only do them from London or can you get from Hull Consulate? Best wishes all. Thanks for replies.
November 28, 200916 yr In-person application at Embassy required: Please be informed that the process of applying for a new passport takes 6-8 weeks as the new passport must be issued by the Consular Department in Bangkok, Thailand. Edited November 28, 200916 yr by vinny
November 28, 200916 yr Author You have to actually go to London to get it??? Honestly, you must be able to do by post? Aww well if not we can always look at the Thames ...again...
November 28, 200916 yr Try asking the embassy if they have a 'Passport Renewal Roadshow' scheduled near you.
December 2, 200916 yr Author Hi Vinns, The Thai Embassy website in UK is a little unclear... epassport can be done without attending and you do not need to collect as it is a renewal ...? Maybe a "Epassport Facts Roadshow" could explain that? Try asking the embassy if they have a 'Passport Renewal Roadshow' scheduled near you.
December 2, 200916 yr Quote from the Thai Embassy link provided by Vinny: "Note: Please dress correctly for your new passport photograph which will be taken at the Embassy. During the application process, your fingerprints will be collected." Presumably this is her first E-passport. She can't send her fingerprints through the post.
December 2, 200916 yr Author First Epassport yes, but not first passport. Ok anyways I am getting your drift .... ps. I could send her fingers through the post .... Thanks for all replies.
