Crime Shock in Udon Thani as Villagers Discover Human Skeleton in Forest
Picture courtesy of Naewna. Villagers searching for wild mushrooms in a remote forest area of Udon Thani province were left stunned after discovering a human skeleton, now believed to be that of a woman aged between 40 and 50 years old. The grim discovery was made in a wooded area near Moo 11, Muang Phia Subdistrict, Kut Chap District. Pol Lt Col Somchai Thapila, deputy inspector of Kut Chap Police Station, received the alert and promptly coordinated with forensic officers from Kut Chap Hospital, crime scene investigators and rescue workers from the Udon Thani Dharma Promotion Foundation. At the scene, officers found a complete human skeleton dressed in a dark T-shirt and stretch fabric trousers. A white leather handbag was located nearby, but investigators noted with concern that both the woman’s underwear and bra were missing. An initial forensic examination determined the remains belonged to a female, approximately 160cm tall. A fracture was found in the ribcage, raising suspicions about the cause of death. Inside the handbag, officers found a rusted fruit-peeling knife but no identification documents. The blue shirt worn by the deceased was branded with the logo “John Langer”, believed to be a promotional item from an alcohol brand. The body was recovered and sent to Udon Thani Central Hospital, where DNA will be extracted to try to confirm the woman’s identity. Investigators are also analysing the cause of death. Police reported they are initially pursuing three possible scenarios: the woman may have been lured to the forest and sexually assaulted before being killed, she may have been the victim of a hit-and-run with her body dumped in the forest or she could have been physically assaulted and left for dead. All lines of inquiry remain open. Local village chief Mr. Teerapat stated that no one from Moo 11 had been reported missing, suggesting the deceased may have come from another area. He confirmed the discovery was made by villagers foraging for mushrooms, who then alerted local authorities via the village’s Line chat group. Police are urging anyone who may be missing a female relative aged between 40 and 50 to contact Kut Chap Police Station immediately. The case remains under active investigation.
