Ranong - Koh Phayam

Featured Replies

after much deliberation my thai friend seems to think koh phayam will suit my needs just fine,im just not sure of the best./easiest/quickest way of geting there, ive been assured no body flies direct from bkk-ranong anymore and i dont fancy a 10 hour bus journey due to my limited time scale...is there a quicker way of getting there? any other airports in close proximitty worth considering or am i just going to have to bite the bullet and bus it?

also anyones thoughts, experiences on koh phyam would be much happreciated, with reagrds to resorts, beaches to stay etc.

many thanks again,chris

Even though its a pain to get to Koh Phayam it is well worth the hassle (think, Samui 20 years ago). Take the night bus from Sai Tai bus station and you will arrive in Ranong in good time for the morning ferry to Koh Phayam

Do a google search for info and if you have any specific questions you can post them here or PM me. Xmas and New Year is their busiest time of year, but nothing compared to the hustle and bustle of many of the more popular islands, best to make reservations in advance though.

so then its a toss up between koh phrayam,ko jum,koh phoda?

help me please :)

Yes, all good now apart from a few scars. The episode you mention was some years ago and more of a one off happening and nothing that should reflect on the beauty and ambience of Koh Phayam

If you don't fancy the 10 hours on the bus to Ranong. You can fly to either Surat Thani or Phuket, then bus it. Or get the overnight train down to Chumpon. There is a regular mini bus between Chumpon and Ranong.

Fly to Phket , then you can get a bus or taxi to Rannong, its about 3/4 hours in a car from Phuket.Total time with flying to Phuket about 5/6 hours. You could always stay over night in Phuket before the bus ride or taxi, Only other way is VIP over night to Ranong, but make shore you book the bus seat.
