Visa Run Tomorrow

Featured Replies

Hi,

my On-arrival-Visa is valid until Dec 7th. I plan to make a visa run via airplane tomorrow to get obtain another 30day stamp when i come back into Thailand.

I plan to fly to KL and fly back to Thailand the same day.

Is there anything i need to be aware of when landing in Kuala Lumpur ?

Can i do the visa run on the 8th without getting into trouble? I heard about a 24 hour time window.. maybe just a rumor.

Please help!

No. If the arrival stamp in your passport says “ADMITTED <date> UNITL 07 DEC 2009” you must leave Thailand on a flight scheduled to depart not later than midnight on 7 December. On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, turn around and check in for your return flight to Bangkok on the same day. Nothing special to be concerned about in KL.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

if you fly (guess no promotion) on 7th why not applay in Thai Embassy in KL for 60 days tourist to which you can add 30 days in immigration here? bring in Monday, take out Tuesday and for free until 12 March 2010.

On Monday 7th December the Thai embassy in KL will be closed, but the point is valid to consider applying for tourist visa depending upon the length of your proposed stay on re-entering the Kingdom (apply morning Tuesday 8th, collect afternoon Wednesday 9th).

No I meant LEAVE ON TIME which is on the 7th but as you were talking about the 6th.....and come back whenever (or get , as said earlier, a visa over there)

What have the changed the rules?

Yes you need to leave on the 7th, but as the rumor you heard they used to waive the fee for the 1st? you still overstayed and get a stamp in your passport, but you do not have to pay the fee. The overstay stamp in no way at this time will prevent you from getting future visa's.

I overstayed a few times by one day and never paid a fee at the airport. So according to Maestro this has changed.

As stated you should if possible extend your stay in KL to get a Tourist visa for Thailand if you plan to stay in Thailand longer than 1 more month, unless you plan to work in Thailand which is prohibited under a tourist visa

If you give a little more details on your future plans in Thailand ie only plan to stay 1 more month, plan to stay longer, plan to start working, then you can get the best advise.
