Pattaya Police and district officials continue their late night raids on local bars.

Acting on direct instructions from the Deputy Prime Ministers Office in Bangkok, Police and local administrations must inspect a minimum of 1 entertainment complex under their jurisdiction between now and the 19th of this month. We have already reported on a raid which took place at Tony’s Entertainment Complex on Walking Street and on Friday night, we joined Police Colonel Somnook, the Chief of Pattaya Police and Khun Worawit, the Chief of Banglamung District on the first of two raids. The first was at the Barkuba Pub on Pattaya Third Road. As authorities arrived, the DJ was ordered to stop the music and the lights were turned on. An unspecified amount of patrons were found to be under the legal age of 20 and on amore serious note, the bar trading license was found to have expired. Khun Seepom, aged 39, the bar Manager was arrested on a charge of illegally selling Alcohol and was taken back to Pattaya Police Station along with the underage patrons for processing.

The second raid of the night was undertaken by Police Major Sutum, from Pattaya’s Crime Suppression Unit who received information at 4.45am that the Snowhite Karaoke Bar in Soi Chayapoon, Central Pattaya was still open and serving Alchohol. The information was correct and Police found 8 patrons inside who were under the age of 20. It was clear to Police that Alcohol was being sold after hours.

In both cases, reports will be sent to the Governor of Chonburi who will decide if the establishments should receive a temporary or permanent closure order.

Funny that :D Seeming how barkuba is owned by the police.

Won't mention who but i've been there twice now, once on the grand opening and again on a certain police members birthday. :o

Actually Dave, the Police Officer you are probably speaking about only has a very small share in the bar and he is currently not working in Pattaya. He is doing a senior inspectors course at Chonburi HQ and will soon be transferred out of Pattaya. Apart from him, there are no others on the books. An expired license is gonna cost them dear, but I think they will be able to carry on operating after a small donation to the Police benevolant fund.

Interesting to see that it`s not just Walking St that the boys in brown are focussing their attentions on....although I haven`t heard of any raids in the northern part of Pattaya (maybe I`ve missed some). :o

Just speaking to my lawyer and it appears that Lucifers, Hollywood, Xcite, Stardice etc are going to be watched very closely, It seems that they are cracking down on after hours and under age.

Dave is it going to get to a stage where all younger people`s ID is going to have to be checked at the entrance??

I think alot of places are doing that already, I was thinking of doing it soon although we don't really attract the younger crowds. :o

Not as far as the farang crowd is concerned perhaps, but some of their "companions" may be suspect (for being underage).

Do you have a stable staff, or do they come and go like the wind, as happens in other establishments ? Just down the alley from the Blues, I've seen girls hi-tail it out of the bar when the boys-in-tight-brown showed up. When mamsan found out they were underage, she fired them.

One ended up going to work in an "allah" bar a couple of blocks over. According to her, the police were not quite as diligent when it came to checking those bars out, and the "owners" weren't as concerned about the age of their staff either.

Kerry - no-one, not even the police, wants to be involved in those bars. Really the bottom of the barrel (in many ways :D )

Dave's place is relatively stable, and the customers are also (when they come in - a few are less stable on the way out).

How's your part of the pork-dodgers world - all the guys still walking round with cow-pats on their heads (cow-pat as in brown, flat and smelly, not as in flied lice).

Used to employ a lot of 'em as unskilled labour when working in Iran. Terrible people, would pull knives if you just looked at them wrong.

Hmm Hub of Disco crackdowns... funny they gone lax on id checks. I noticed them checking ids everytime I visited Lucifers - don't recall Tony's ever doing it.

Four venues simultaneously raided by local and Provincial Police around Pattaya.

It was believed that the current round of raids on pubs would finish on 19th. However on Wednesday night, three late night venues were the subject of inspections by local and Chonburi Provincial Police. At first, Police Major Boonreut, acting-Inspector of Pattaya’s undercover unit and his team went to the Blue Chili Pub on Pattaya Third Road just before 1am. License checks and ID checks were made and 3 people were found not to be in possession of their ID cards and were taken to Pattaya Police Station and paid fines of 100 Baht each. No further action was taken at this particular venue who were found to be operating within the boundaries of the law. They then crossed the road and went to the Cottage Pub. Everything was normal here apart from the license which was in the wrong name. This problem with the name of the venue was already known to Police and the Management of The Cottage knew that they had to change the license; however this still has not been changed. The manager of the venue, Khun Sairee was arrested and taken to the stationhouse on a charge of operating an entertainment venue without a valid license. A report will be sent to the Governor of Chonburi who may decide to close the venue until the license has been changed.

While these raids were taking place another venue was being checked. This is The Beat Pub in Soi 4, off Pattaya Beach, however at this time the venue was empty and only two tables were occupied. Everything was found to be in order and Police left the venue. We also discovered back at Pattaya Police Station that yet another venue had been raided. The Forte Karaoke Bar on Pattaya Third Road was checked and a total of 5 women 1 man and the manager of the venue were arrested. 2 women and one man were found to be under the age of 18 and three other women were not carrying ID cards. A report on this raid will also be sent to the Governor of Chonburi for consideration.

Sunee Plaza Boy Bars raided by undercover Police.

Soi Sunee Plaza in South Pattaya is one of two recognized areas in Pattaya which cater for gay individuals. However, it is also a constant target for Police Raids as many of the bars in this area will employ underage men. On Thursday night, Police Major Bunleut, the Acting-Inspector of Pattaya’s Undercover Unit conducted one such raid and found a number of irregularities. Many bars were checked and three of them were subject to closer inspection. At the Euro-boy Nightclub, managed by Khun Gira aged 38, one man under the age of 18 was found to be working inside. At the Daisy Bar, managed by Khun Prayong aged 25, no valid trading license could be found and at the Banana Bar, managed by Khun Prayong aged 44, two men aged under 18 were found inside. A further 9 people were arrested on the street, accused of prostitution and 8 more were detained because they did not possess ID cards. The arrestees were taken back to Pattaya Police Station and charged with a variety of offences.
