DarloKnight
My inlaws were flying yesterday afternoon Newcastle UK to BKK, they got a phone call yesterday morning at 8am from Emirates saying that they had overbooked their flight. Emirates asked them if they would mind if they could change their flight to depart from Manchester on the evening flight and they would send a car/driver to pick them up and they also upgraded them from economy to business class. Inlaws agreed with them as they had a 8 hour stop over in Dubai and this would also mean they would only have 1 1/2 hr wait for their connecting flight. Just thought it was a good story to share as this does not happen to people I know every day
LaoPo
Good news indeed. Dubai is desperate for some good news and your inlaws found the benefit. Good for them. LaoPo

Ricardo
Excellent to see Emirates reward them, for their co-operation, with an upgrade. Way to go ! Reminds me especially to check the Emirates-site, next time I'm due to fly again, after I've finally used my hard-earned Qatar-Qmiles award-flight. edwinchester
Emirates did the decent thing but the airline policy of overbooking flights should be outlawed.
mijan24
Coincidentlty have needed to return home to Newcastle (Australia) several times recently and Emirates was used no upgrades but "wife" delayed in Sydney 3 hrs they were very efficent keeping passengers updated - meal vouchers so at the end of the day all comments were positive which is good to hear in times when most comments are GRIPES.
