Is It Possible To Report Offensive Private Messages

Featured Replies

I recently received an offensive pm. Is there any avenue in place for reporting such a thing?

PM one of the moderators.

Thanks, done.

Yeah, just forward the message to any Mod, we'll do the necessary. :)

I didn't notice any method available for forwarding, but I copied the text and included it in my pm to a mod.

It was received Jimmyd.

To forward a PM click on Reply and change the name in the Recipient's Name box to who you want to it forward to.

No, there is a Forward option in the menu, but it is slightly hidden.

Do that instead of copying it as in most systems it will then retain the strain of message-ID's so one can verify that the report in itself wasn't faked...

Can I presume here that TV does not include a hack to read PMs ?

Precisely - can PMs be read by anyone other than the sender or recipient ?

Only person reading your PM's is, presumably you. Paranoid much?

Kindly answer the question. Do not skirt the issue.

Is It Possible To Report Offensive Private Messages, If so, how?

Just as a clarifier, PM does not stand for "Private Message", it stands for "Personal Message" (refer to your Message Center for confirmation of this).

Empty PM Folders

You may remove your stored personal messages

It should be obvious to all that there is a world of difference between "personal" and "private" and while PM's may be personal, they are not private.

refer to the above

But any rational person dealing with a person of integrity would be led to believe a personal message would be private.

I did. Perhaps it was unclear to you so I will make it abundantly clear.

Unless you are not reading your PM's the only person reading them is you. If you are not reading your PM's then nobody is. Or, perhaps you share your account with someone else and allow them to read your PMs. So, it could be zero people reading your PMs. or it could be you reading your PM's or given how much you like to share your account, or if you use a public computer and don't sign out, then who knows who is reading your PMs. But, regardless of where ever your thoughts have taken you, admins and mods are not reading your PMs.

also, the OP asked how he can go about reporting an abusive PM

the answer has been given.

this thread is now closed

cheers :)
