I obtained a 30-day "permit to stay" when last arriving in Thailand, which is due to expire shortly. However, my outward flight is scheduled for 8 days beyond the end of the permit period. Does anyone have experience of asking for an extension to a permit? I don't want to do a visa run for just 8 days unless I really have to. Is it possible to request an extension at the Bangkok Immigration Office?

You can only get a 7 day extension, might be best to just go to the border and leave and re-enter agein. This will give you another 15 days.
