December 17, 200916 yr I love my dog, but he knows he is not allowed to hang around looking all sad (begging) when anyone in the house is eating. In fact I never trained him on this point. He sort of knows the food is not for him so pays absolutely no interest until after we have finished eating and start moving the plates to the sink. Then he will wait until called if there are any leftovers for him, which is not often. Having said that, I understand that one of the character traits of the golden is a love of food. Our Cookie knows how to play my wife's heartstrings. I finally had to give up and let her spoil our baby girl.

With some of my mother's dogs, the hang dog look they would give you would be enough to melt the heart of a tyrant. Edited December 17, 200916 yr by GarryP
