According to the Thai customs website they assess the reinported item if it is worth more than what was exported.

Ie the engine I wish to send for a rebuild is worth more because it is essentially full of new or recon parts as opposed to the oil burning clunky lump that I exported...

As usual anything to do with the Thai Customs service is dodgy.. Just wondered if anyone had a shipping agent they could reccomend ? Or any info on the subject..

Just make sure all paperwork is in order (100%) otherwise you may well land up been pressured into paying import duties on something that was already in the country.
