Bikes Repair Shops

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am a tourist and will rent a bike. I will go from Bangko to the north. I am worry about that something happen to the bike. Have anyone an address from good repair shops between Bangkok andCHiang Mai?

Please help me out.

As a rough guesstimate, you should find a shop that will fix a flat tyre or repair most minor problems like tensioning chains or replacong brake pads around every 10 or so km on the main roads.

I have found in past inter-province travels that a new tyre that might cost me 300 baht at my local neighbourhood where I know the bike shop suddenly sets me back over 500 out in the sticks, but when you have the choice of pushing a fully loaded bike another 10km or opting for the nearest repairs, it's probably fairly acceptible that you're gonna get charged full retail, especially on a Sunday afternoon, if you can find a place that's open.

There are bike repair shops literally everywhere, and if people see you pushing a bike along the main road, they tend to notice and try to give you directions to somewhere that can help out.

Good luck with a trouble-free and safe trip.

Moreover, if I could buy a new tyre in Australia for anything close to three times 500 baht, maybe I might feel like I was getting taken advantage of. :)

In my bike days, I could carry just about everything u could ever need. Chain breaker, pump tire patch kit, allen wrenches etc.

About the only thing I did not carry was a spare rim....

Honestly if I were planning a long trek I would be planning on carrying my gear/supplies around with me.
