There one more reason never to travel on busses over here. Hope the injured recover quickly. Would be nice if the tour company were given a fine as well or at least something.

Seems it was safer than being on the bikes.

did they arrest the Americans?

:)

Is it any better to take trains, that derails once a week, (if they are not on strike), or drive yourself? Try One Two Go Airline maybe?

No disrespect intended to the injured, hopefully they aren't seriously hurt, BUT - why do these bus crash stories continue to be news? They aren't going to stop, it's the same story over and over again. Just substitute the province and number of dead / injured. "A bus went out of control today due to faulty brakes / driver sleeping killing / injuring ___ people. The bus driver ran / died

Obviously if something was going to be done to stop these "accidents" - besides the drivers taking that solemn oath to not crash a couple of years back - something serious I mean, it would have happened already.

Not yet but they are making inquiries into how they can blame them and make them pay for the damages

If it wasn't for them the bus would not have been there, Very obvious who is to blame. :)

I agree they should be arrested if they stay home they would not be on the bus.

I bet they were also wasting gas traving around they should just stay in pattaya and enjoyed the beach.

Being Americans, they'll get foreign aid sent to the vicitms' families.

One of the Americans was injured and taken to hospital where he's been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

In fact, I'm not sure of your point at all - please clarify? :)

FYI This happened at the top of the hill near parking area. I think it was a case of turn into motorbike parking area or go over edge. Someone I know was parked there nearby at the time.

This topic is not about US foreign policy, please stay on topic. 1 post edited, others will be deleted.

Okay, lots of us are used to hear about accidents like that. But we should never forget that we could also be on a bike when some breaks are out of order…Live to Ride, Ride to Live. Let’s hope the injured will recover soon.

Not the best road on which to have faulty brake problems, quite an incline!

I foresee a crackdown on faulty brakes with Thailand being the hub of such actions. :)

You mean the 'hub of brake hubs'?

When they ordered the bus they should have up-sized the brakes! :)

Wow! Sometimes I am just blown away by the lack of sensitivity of some comments. Let's just focus on hopes & prayers that those injured recover quickly & fully.

I think the term you're hunting for is "super-sized"..... :D

Lot of ignorant comments from people who have no idea what Doi Suthep is. Seems par the course lately. Hope all the parked motorbikes are ok.

I guess, they used "made in china" brake pads and cylinders"

Well spoke n.

My condolences to the motorcycles. :)

Yep farang in the bus that is the cause of the accident, all farang passenger will then be liable. That is common thai law and practice. A thai is not in fault if a farang is within 25 mtrs of the incident.

The driver ran away anyways, so who else could you blame ?

What's with the picture of the little scooter. Also a bike has brakes not breaks, lol...

Ban buses from the roads! :)

Let's face it. When you come to Thailand you remove 3-4 years from your life expectancy. I recently followed a bus down Doi Suthep and watched in horror as the driver over-steered more than just a couple of times. Like all Thai drivers he was , well, a poor driver. This post will probably be removed for criticizing Thai drivers, but it is time to call a spade a spade, especially when Thailand is trying to cut in half the number of road deaths.

Oh dear! I've booked a bus tour of the area over New Year for my family. Already paid. Does anyone know the name of the tour company? I hope it's not the same one I'm using.
