SeanMoran
Please excuse me if this should have been threaded in the 'Bikes in Thailand' forum, but Travel seemed like the most suitable, especially with the new thread on flights from Chiang Mai to Yangoon. Having noticed that flights from Australia (where I will be travelling from next trip) to Yangoon are much rarer than those to Suvarnabhumi, and most likely more costly, I post this thread to inquire as to the possibility of storing my bike while I do the 'back to Australia for a week' flight, then rather than flying directly to Myanmar, returning through Suvarnabhumi, collecting the bike, and riding to Mae Sot, and crossing the border by motorcycle. Is it possible, and what sort of taxes should I expect on a 12,500 thb motorcycle that I paid 25,000 thb for and don't intend to sell in Myanmar before riding back to Rayong? apetley
Foreigners are not allowed more than a few kms out of Myawaddy so forget the overland route into Myanmar. The road is checkpointed by the Burmese Army and you would not be able to pass at best, arrested at worse.
