When the Malaysian press gets anywhere near the circumstances of Teoh's death, the implication is that the interrogation got too rough.

I don't think so.

From what I could piece together, I think the interrogators discovered that Teoh knew things he shouldn't have, and decided that was a liability. The guys questioning him were the anti-corruption agency (and we know they're not corrupt because "anti-corruption" is in their name, right? Right!).

I think they brought her in for two reasons: first, they figured she'd be an easy payoff, and second, the propensity for declaring cause of death as suicide.

Don't expect this to cause an international incident, it's just more hot air. And the hot air in that country isn't always due to it being so close to the equator.

what a bizarre story.

The second port-mortem was conducted by Sungai Buloh Hospital Pathology Unit head Dr Shahidan Md Noor, with Dr Pornthip in attendance as an observer representing the Selangor government, while MACC was represented by independent forensic expert Prof Dr Peter Vanezis of the United Kingdom.

If she was an observer why are they only going after her and the reporter? Why not go for the Chief pathologist that conducted the second autopsy?

Anything to distract from the obvious fact (that someone threw the poor b_astard out the window).

Now that they have a foreigner to blame for interfering with the right and proper functioning of their nation etc (sound familiar? ) they have someone to point their fingers at as to why justice cannot be served.

They've been trying their darnest to have someone declare this a suicide. I can only imagine what sort of incentives were dangled in front Pornthip.
