Yet clearly many of the members here have indeed participated in the commercial scene in Thailand at one time or another, or currently. The intention of this poll is to gain some kind of numerical perspective about the audience here in relation to this always controversial topic. Nothing more, nothing less.

Again, these judgments are up to you, but I think you are splitting hairs for sport, and missing the intention of this survey. In other words, I believe people always KNOW whether they are doing this or not, so why play semantic games about it?

Think of it how the police would think of it in a country where the law is enforced. Cash for services directly is the test. Playing other typical dating/trying to score games would not count.

Now I am not so sure. Put it another way. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. You decide. OK? I don't want to be in the position of defining this for everyone. For exampe, I reckon some marriages would qualify as a yes but only the people involved would know that. I still think mostly people deep down KNOW whether they are doing this, or not.

Years ago in the U.S. I had a very nice conversation with a very attractive "lovely" I was sexually attracted too. After an hour of conversation in the bar and detecting departure signals, I asked if the person "are you ""working"", the answer was "yes". I quickily replied, "I don't pay for it". Off they went to another part of the bar for a half hour before they came back.

"No luck, I inquired upon their return". "Nothing I was interested in" was the reply. I then inquired if a date in the following week was possible, when they were not "working". "I would like that, was the answer". "Where would we go and what would we do"? was the next question posed to me. "Up to you" was my reply. "What are your budget restraints" was the next question which I answered with "You choose, I pay, no worries"

"Could cost you $200 or more at a nice restaurant with drinks" came the response. "No problem said I" truly meaning it.

"Well, why not just give me the $200 and we will skip the dinner and drinks and go straight to bed" came the punch line which brooked no complaint from me. As a result of this educational verbal exchange, I had one of the most enjoyable all night assignations of my life and learned a great deal about life and arbitrary moral codes from the experience.
