Internet Connection With Your Blackberry

Featured Replies

Hi guys, this is my first post though I've been to and fro Thailand for many years.

For Farangs like us in Thailand, having problems connecting your laptop computer to the internet, here's how you do it.

If you always need to rent a room with internet connection and pay a higher price, now you're able to rent any room even without internet connect.

I'm currently using Blackberry Curve 8900 with a normal DTAC sim card I bought from a quickie mart. This can be done on any mobile phone as long as your HP has wifi capability or built in modem.

If you call those network operators like TRUE, DTAC, etc... regarding Blackberry or other phones you might have, 10/10 operators gonna tell you this and I heard it over and over a zillion times. "Sorrie sir, we don't sapport Blackberry to connect intornet in Thailand.. you need to have our Blackberry Pushmail Services" The fact is; It's so easy to connect to the internet using your Blackberry without those cheesy Pushmail services they tried to offer.

Below example is based on 1 day unlimited internet access with DTAC (They've too many packages like 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, etc...)

Step 1: Top up your DTAC (100B) to be safe

Step 2: Call DTAC call center and tell them you wanna apply for a day unlimited internet access

Step 3: DTAC will automatically deduct 49B (Excl. 7% VAT) and sms you the time your internet access package is going to expire.

Step 4: Connect your Blackberry to your laptop

Step 5: Switch on your Blackberry Desktop Manager and go to IP MODEM. Choose DTAC and connect that's it.

I've tried TRUE, DTAC, etc..... Trust me folks, DTAC network is still the best. The speed ain't slow either. I'm able to download, surf the internet, etc... without any problems.

Now with this info, you don't need to rent a room with internet access that ain't nice at all and pay a higher price.

One thing to take note folks, if you exceeds your package time limit, they ain't gonna cut you off from the internet instead they'll continue to charge you 1.07B per min using the internet. Either call them again to extend your package or stop using the internet.
