phayao Posted January 12, 2010 Share Posted January 12, 2010 EL PAIS newspaper has revealed today that a 16 y.o. transexual has been operated in the Plastic Surgery Institute of Barnaclinic by Dr. Ivan Manero in the first days of last December. The youth had started a hormones and psicological treatment eighteen months ago, when only 14 1/2 years old. She had the full support of her parents. Under Spanish law people under-18 can only be intervened after the decission of a judge with the advice of a psichiatric team. Her family had been treating her as a girl for many years, as she requested, although she was born with masculine genitals. It seems the surgery was conducted appropriately and that the patient had the necessary support from surgeons, mental health professionals and family.
