limbos
Harryvb, In general the jellyfish in the Gulf are not dangerous (painfull, yes), however, there's proof nowadays that occasionally Box Jelly fish makes it in to the Gulf. Unfortunately Box Jelly Fish encounters can be deadly. Edited May 1, 2005 by limbos
Thetyim
When I went tp Prachuab a couple of years ago in October the beach was littered with dead jellyfish. They were washed in on the tide, hundreds of them, and then the sun sort of "dissolved" them in a few hours. A bit like salt on a snail. They were all dead but made the beach unusable for a three days.

If so, then I wouldn't be going anywhere near the water. I've seen first hand what their stinging tentacles can do...
