HAITI'S DISASTER

Donations sought for Haiti victims

Published on January 16, 2010

The Thai Red Cross Society is calling for cash donations for earthquake victims in Haiti. Some 300,000 people have been left homeless by the devastating earthquake, which destroyed one in 10 homes in the capital PortauPrince, the United Nations said yesterday.

The Thai Red Cross said only cash donations could be accepted for the victims there as the delivery of goods from Thailand to Haiti was very complicated.

Cash donations can be made directly at the Thai Red Cross Finance Bureau in the compound of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital on Rama IV Road, Bangkok or through the following bank account:

Thai Red Cross Society (Donation), Savings Account No 0452880006, Siam Commercial Bank, Saphakachat Thai Branch.

Donations collected will support the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in their relief and recovery operations for the victims in Haiti.
