Hello ,

my friend arrived without a visa to BKK and they refused her a visa because her ticket was 28 days to stay in thailand.

after two hours another immigration officer gave her 15 days visa on arrival, as usual for Hungarians.

Is it possible to extent the visa ?

Or is it possible to fly to for example Siam Reap for 2 days and come back and get a new visa on arrival for 15 days ?

or is it possible to go to singapore or hongkong go to Thai embassy and get there a 30 day visa ?

Thanks for ur help.

she was lucky to be allowed into the country.

if she knew she is coming for 28 days, why didn't she get a free visa from any consulate?

yes, it's possible to extend for 7 days for 1900baht, giving a reason, like health.

cheaper and easier might be crossing the border and coming back even the same day (all thai airports will give 15 days, but only a very few land emmigration offices will issue that - remaind her about 2 pics). Alternatively a free tourist visa or two for 30 days each from any consulate (vientiane and penang the closest ones - probably 1 day waiting)

Does Thai Immigration know that Hungary is part of the European Community ?

If yes, why its citizens are not allowed to stay 30 days without visa as others members such britons, germans, italians,.. ?

thailand has diplomatic relations not with eu but with very individual country - visa agreements are bilateral between governments

I and she didnt know , i am german and i thougt for all Europeans is 30 days normal ..

i was surprised that it is not ..

I mean they compare hungary with Butan ...

Okay, but when she goes out for one day ,she can get another 15 days visa on arrival ..

same procedure like the 30days visa for germans for example , that you can do 3 times ?

Hungarian Nationals cannot get Visa exempt entries.

They can apply for a 15 day VOA. Usually 1,000 Baht but free at the moment.

There is no 3 times limit for anyone.

When she returns by land or air she can apply for a VOA 15 days.

Not at every land crossing though.

A German would get a Visa Exempt entry of 15 days by land or 30 days by air.

so the VOA she has now and after 15 days , we can go 2 days for Siam Reap for example and come back Thailand and

get another VOA for her for 15 days ?

No problem whatsoever. But make sure to fly, as looking at the list as given in a post above, non of the Cambodian land borders are able to give the VOA.
