Off for another visa run next week and its quite possible I'll get a red stamp as have 7 back to back tourist visa's.

If I do get a red stamp, is there any problem then applying for an Education visa ? Anyone tried this yet ?

Providing you have all the correct paperwork for your Non-ED visa - which your school should be able to provide - there should be no reason why a consulate would decline to issue your visa (unless you happened to be on some sort of blacklist) as you have a valid reason to stay in the Kingdom.
