Confused About My Ed Visa

Featured Replies

I have been on an Ed visa for several years as I was studying full time at ABAC university. I finished all my classes last October and I was told by the visa office at ABAC that my visa would expire at the end of the following January (this month) and that I would then have 7 days to leave the country.

The things is though in my passport it states that the visa is valid until the 8th of April and 'officially' the next time I need to go to immigration (for 90 day update) would be Feb 8th. If I did not leave Thailand 7 days after January as the visa office at my uni said is there anyway of immigration knowing this? I dont see how as there is nothing to show this in my passport....

Not sure if you even have 7 days to leave the country. You are here on extensions of stay based on studying. Normally when the reason for which you got an extension no longer exists you have to leave the country the same day.

That goes for people who are married to a Thai and get divorced, or when they work and get an extension of stay based on their work and lose their job. I presume it is the same with an ED-visa.

If immigration will pick it up is another thing.
