For the pass 5 years, I had use a lot of email services when I'm not in Thailand for inquiries or important matters. It can big Company, Organization, Private or even Banks. The response was not pleasing.

For the recent case. I had some doubts over my wife's bank account with Siam Commercial Bank, I emailed the particular department but only received their reply after 3 months. It was so ineffective. I was wondering why they took so long to reply? No Customers Service Departments replying emails? And if so, why they leave their email on the website?

3 weeks ago, I had problems connecting the internet in my Thailand home. I tried to email TOT which was the subscriber. Until now I back home to my country, still no reply!!!

Lastly 2 weeks back, I emailed a 5 star Hotel in Phuket to en-quire about the low season rate and will book straight from the Hotel, no reply. Does anyone know why are the email service in Thailand so "unpopular"? I'm so upset about this.

Sounds much like Australia. Give Thailand a little credit for trying to emulate the western world, even though that was most likely the main reason that some of us came here to get away from. Peru might be an alternative. Nice weather, and fair prices on Marlboro.

This upsets you? Your not going top change the whole countries way of doing things. Just pick up the phone.

Thanks for the suggestion friend. Called them, most the time automated reply from TOT, called the bank, they say they will reply. Called the hotel, they said they will look at the email soon. My concern is....why they leave down email in the website BUT the reply isn't prompt?? Just curious !

I think the suggestion was for you to use the phone to do your business with them, not for telling them to look at you email.

I did use the phone after not receiving their replies. My topic was.....why did they leave email as one of their contacts method when they know they are not so "fond" of it? Anyone encounter similar like me?

Thailand just shows they are emulating the western ways. But they don’t really mean it and of course it does not even mean shi……

I am not worried They ever will be like a westerner, because the it would cost them money and they are not willing to spend more than they have to

Dealing with somebody one on one will always be more effective than something as impersonal as an email. You are intelligent enough to work emails don't work, so don't use it

In some ways it is worse here than in the States. Most of the time in the States you do get an email response. When I was a school principal my policy was some type of response within 24 hours, even if it was only something like, "I received your email and will get back to you no later than...."

Having said that, however, I hate to count the number of times in the States the response I got was automated and worthless. Or the response was not automated, but still worthless. And that has been magnified since moving here with the few companies I still have to do business with in the States. For example, emailing for basic information about some tax information...though not asking for MY information in my account. "Sorry, but we cannot give you account information through email." I KNOW THAT...I ONLY ASKED -- AND VERY SPECIFICALLY -- FOR GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOPIC. Or, telling me I will have to log onto my account for information ABOUT AN ACCOUNT THAT WAS CLOSED...SO I CAN'T LOG ONTO IT. Or being told. "It is better for you to [make a long distance international and expensive] telephone our office."

To be honest, the stupid responses of no value that I have been getting from companies in the States are more frustrating to me than not getting a response at all from a company here in Thailand.

Just curious !

No big organizations as you refer to them answer emails let alone in Thailand. Unless the web site has a registered way of submitting a support question, forget it. In Thailand no one answers emails anyway even if you have a working relationship. The phone or better still a meeting is the only means of communication.

As for expecting an email answer about some one else's bank account!? I guess you'll live and learn.

Don't get upset about things you have no control over, life's too short!
