Iphone Gps Very Wrong

Featured Replies

I have just arrived back in Thailand bringing with me an iPhone for the first time.

Everything is working fine, except the gps locator is convinced that I am currently just outside Tokyo in Japan.

This will get me very lost if I attempt to use the phone to guide me home!

Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Sure that you're using it with clear access to the satellites? Never had a problem with mine. Just wondering.

Are you sure you are not in Tokyo?

:)

Try clicking that little target icon in the lower left corner of the Maps application, do it outside for best results.

I did get confused as to where I was staying a few nights ago, but I am pretty certain that I'm not living in Japan!

It doesnt make any difference if I am inside or out, apparently I am just SE of Tokyo.

Very strange!

The assisted GPS should locate rough locations from the cell tower which makes it even more confusing.

Does anyone know if DTAC route things through Japan?

Actually it does. GPS signals don't pass through building walls well if at all. You should get out more.

Just bought iPh 3gs with GPS in Bangkok. Works fine for me. Using DTAC GSM.

What GPS soft r u using ? Or just a GoogleMaps ?

I think I have read that also other people are having trouble with iPh GPS going totaly wrong. Cant remeber where I seen it though, sorry.

Might be worth googling though.
