Can I Use 2 Routers On A Tot Asdl Connection Using Different Telephone Sockets ?

Featured Replies

Can I just use another TOT router in a bedroom where there is another telephone socket or will that screw up the main connection in the living room ?

I know I can run another Cat 5 or whatever it is called cable to the original router (if it has enough ports) but I'm looking at another solution (as I think the one in use is single port).

your tot router is in the living room with 1 adsl. Right? and you want to use internet from your bed room that has 1 telephone port (rj11) right?

Is the telephone line in living room and bed room same number?

actually 1 telephone can be used with 1 router (in SOHO). I think in these case you use RJ45 from living room to bedroom. or use Acces point to use Wifi ,it's the easiest way.

Thank you

I assume both phone sockets share the same number (with ADSL service)? If that's the case, the second router won't be able to connect unless you disconnect the router in your living room first.

Only a single connection can be made at a time. A simple 4-port hub will solve this problem.

No you can't, but if you don't want to run a cat 5 cable to your bedroom either go wireless or look at the network solution that goes through the power wires in your house. http://www.howstuffworks.com/power-network.htm

Or I had a 1 port router modem from True, just got a 'switch' form Pantip Plaza for 1200baht that splits it into a 5 plug out put. It has it's own power supply. Basicly you plug 1 ethernet cable in form your modem and it splits it to severl other plugs.

Go for a wireless router to avoid extra cables.
