Its held on the night normally known as the dark moon, when the moon is not visible.This particular one is held at Ban Tai beach, and has a cover charge. No idea what it is now, it used to be 300.

Depending on what sort of accommodation you are looking for, you can find pretty much anything you need within walking distance of the party. Its not a big party like the Full Moon so most places aren't full.

We ARE talking about Koh Samui. The Black Moon Party is here. Costs 500 Baht to get in.

I'm not, I am talking about the party held at Ban Tai on Koh Phangan. Didn't realize Samui had copied that one too. Tis the Samui, Phangan and Tao forum after all.

Koh Phangan is the full moon party location.Never heard of black moon.It don't sound to good.

You might be mixing your parties/islands here. Do you mean the freakyfreaky or fullmoon or halfmoon or darkmoon party or geko here or simply Blackmoon/escape party?

Far as I know Black Moon/escape party is held at the end of Chaweng Lake by the gentlemen assosiated with Sound. If your sure you want to attend then no, no need to book...... Just drive down to the end of Chaweng Lake you cant miss it.

The Full Moon Party on KPP is THE big event around here. Both Samui and KPP have Black Moon Parties (and Half Moon, and maybe 1/4 Moon for all I know! ) in an attempt to generate more business. At this time of year you should have no problem finding somewhere to stay, although you may have trouble finding the venue on the night As you can tell from our replies so far, they are not exactly 'crowd pullers' nor are they that well known.

black moon party on koh phangan has been going on for quite a few years now actually. long before the half moon, jungle experience, shiva moon etc etc etc. In fact the black moon was originally held on Ban Kai beach about 16 years ago.

Black moon is held on PhaNgan once a month, when the moon is in its fully dark phase.

Held at Mac's Bay resort in Baan Tai, it's just a so-so deal and only about 1/10th the size of Full Moon and probably 1/4th the size of Half Moon; or less. And both of those parties are much, much better.

IMO it's a lame party with crappy music, way too dark and with over-priced drinks.

I wonder if these parties classify as OTOP for Koh Pangan, just like all the girliebars in Lamai are officially OTOP.

Black moon party is far less busy/manic compared to full moon. averages about 2-300 people. Mac bay at Ban Tai, Ko Phangan have been hosting this party for many years. Heavy trance till 6am. Beautiful beach. Pay to get in 3 or 400b, and drink prices mid/high price. 7-11 is 5 min walk away, but I bet they wont let you bring drink in. Many flouro + UV sculptures , backdrops etc. Very loud, can be heard from 1km away.
