Famous Landmark To Bite The Dust

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Intel did the same thing to downtown Austin, Tx. Backed out of occupancy of an office building and Austin was stuck with the shell of the building after the work was stopped until it was eventually taken down. What a waste.

The giant building in Sathorn, and the other in Din Daeng (near Ratchada), make me surprised that over ten years later, they are still derelict. The one in Sathorn I think could be salvaged, (it still looks structurally sound), and the one in Din Daeng is a finished building (I think) with windows, etc.

The local government should do something to resolve whatever legal issues are stopping these from being used. They are both so gigantic, and relatively central, they would make great office buildings!

As has been said, in most cases the buildings are tied up in court cases and if the original developer won’t let go, then it can go on for a long, long time.. Every time the court appointed receiver to come up with a rehabilitation plan, all the old owner needs to do file suit to stop it, then start all over. The fact that so many of them are actually prime property makes it almost impossible to solve. Would anyone voluntarily give up the chance to keep a piece of property that could end up making millions?

Not sure what the BMA could do to speed these cases up.

Assassinate the old owner? And all his heirs?

what did this building use to be a long time ago?

It was never completed because of the '97 financial crash.

Walked past that a week or so back. The pavement improvement works had a novel concept to me. Divert pedestrians around the works into the inside lane of the Suk road. Wonder who to complain to if you die :)

Don't worry if that happens you will get a bill from BMA for causing a traffic disruption, your family will anyways. Death, the gift that keeps on taking.

Don't worry, when they're finished they'll be adding a bicycle lane like further up Sukhumvit so you can get hit while on the pavement too!

Considering the state of Sukhumvit traffic this week, walking on the inside lane past all the stationaryvehicles was safer then tripping through the mess they were making of the sidewalk.
