bamboozled
Here's a silly question that's maybe not so silly. The book, "The King Never Smiles" by Paul Handley speaks negatively of the king. I am about to leave for Thailand and wonder if that is a dangerous thing to be carrying around. I assume it is not available in Thailand, probably in the banned bin next to the vibrators. But I am half-way through it and would like to finish. Is having that found on your person akin to a crime, lest mageste, reason for deportation, or no big deal? Thanks, Bam

thaimiller
I wouldn't even try to bring it with you. I read it a few years ago and all the time I was reading it I had it in another dust cover so it looked like a different book.
GuestHouse
You can, but you may not. That said, I brought my copy with me and the Thai translation is widely circulated here in Thailand.
jackr
You'd be better off getting hold of the ebook and throwing it on a flash drive (renaming it) if you really must finish it. Having a notebook would also be useful.

Lite Beer
The book is banned in Thailand for the very reasons outlined in forum rules and as such we cannot discus it here. 2) Not to express disrespect of the King of Thailand or anyone else in the Thai royal family, whether living or deceased, nor to criticize the monarchy as an institution. Speculation, comments and discussion of either a political or personal nature are not allowed when discussing HM The King or the Royal family.
