Any ideas which is the nearest border crossing to Rayong to turn around a non imm visa?

And is this place possible?

Not 100% sure of closest, but Hat Lek, the crossing to Cambodia near Trat, might be closest to Rayong.

No problem doing it in one day there and back. Easy crossing.

Trat to Hat Lek about 40 minutes by minivan.

PongNamRon/BanLaem border would be closest.

Rayong to Chanthaburi is about 100km, Chanthaburi to Ban Laem is about 40km.

I did the Rayong to Pong Nam Ron to Cambodia ride last week. It might be an alternative to Hat Lek, and possibly slightly closer, although from Chanthaburi, both distances look around the same on my Michelin map book.

From Rayong, take Sukhumvit through Klaeng to Chanthaburi It's around 100km. Then Thanon 317 heads north through Makham and up the mountain around 50km of picturesque climb to Pong Nam Ron. When you reach the post office (on your left as you come from Chanthaburi, just past the 711 store, you're in the middle of Pong Nam Ron town.

At the traffic lights just there, turn right and follow the windy country road (now bitumenised all the way) around 20km until you get to the monument pictured in the attachment, where you turn right and the border is around 3-4 km down the road.

Google maps tells me the Pong Nam ron border is 169km from Rayong and Hat Lek is 263km.
