Two Men Caught Following Bag Snatch In South Pattaya

Featured Replies

On Wednesday Evening, Pattaya Police were called into action following a bag snatch which had taken place on the Pratamnuk Road in South Pattaya. Khun Somjit aged 39 was the victim of the theft and was driving on her motorbike when two young men approached on a blue Yamaha Mio. The passenger grabbed the woman’s handbag and drove off. She lost control of her bike and fell to the ground, sustaining cuts to her elbow. She contacted the Police who managed to catch up with the two suspects in Soi Kow Noi in front of the Eastern Grand Hotel in Jomtien. The two suspects aged 15 and 18 were arrested and found to be in possession of the victims’ bag which contained 10,100 Baht in cash, two mobile phones and personal documents. The older suspect stated that he would use the proceeds from such robberies to purchase narcotics whereas the 15 year old would use his share to play online computer games. Both have been charged with aggravated theft and await a court appearance.

The charge should be a serious one as the potential for serious injury when effectively pulling someone off a moving motorbike is huge. No doubt they'll just get a slap on the wrists.

Absolutely right.

There is no deterrent for these thugs, hence it goes on and on and on ad nauseum!

I believe a farang woman was killed in Bangkok by a person who snatched her purse. Dragged her down the road until they got her purse. Not sure if they were ever caught or not...
