I applied for a US visa in London when I was holding a spouse visa which had a year left and was granted a 10 year visa. I took with me my husband's work contract (as I was unemployed at the time), tenancy agreement, credit card and bank statements showing both my name and his and a few other things I cannot remember (this was in September 2008). The interview itself took less than five minutes. As long as your wife shows them she is settled here it should be fairly straightforward. Good luck.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to be that difficult, as compared to applying in Thailand, because she's already in a developed country and married to you. Mind you that christmas day bomber from nigeria got a 10 year visa no problem in london, even after his dad reported him to the cia in yemen or whatever, so it can't be that hard :)

The problem most people run into when applying for a tourist visa, is proving that they have ties to their home country. America's big fear is that you'll come in on a tourist visa and then never leave, so that's what you have to overcome when you go interview for the visa.

The typical problem Thai's run into, is proving that they'll return to Thailand. Especially if they are young, and I'm sure there's bias against young + female due to issues with illegal marriages and working in prostitution. Young people tend not to have any property they need to return to, and because wages are so low its hard to save up enough money in the bank account (provided they even have one) to convince the interviewer they can afford the trip and will come back.

In your case, it should be pretty easy to show that she has ties to you and the UK. Just bring in anything showing her/you have a good job in the UK, some bank statements, and any leases/contracts that has her name on it.
