Hello all. Thank to all who helped me on here previously. I married my thai wife, Lampao, 2 weeks ago in Roiet. Very very happy. Now comes the business of obtaining a uk settlement visa for her so that we cn be together here in Wales.

All information and advice will be gratefully received. What is the best and most effective way to approach this please? I realise it can be a long and drawn out process and that things have changed in recent times. But we really really want to be sccessful in our application. What are costs involved? I have seen many companiesadvertise that they can assist in this matter for around £700. Is it worth using su a company or can it be done successfully ourselves? As previously stated we will gladly accept all advice offered here and we thank you in advance :)

Do it yourself its not rocket science, Go on the British Embassy site, It will tell you all you need to know,There are many people on this site who have done it themselfs. You will get some good free information off here.I would start with your forms VAF4, print them off and it will tell you how to answer the questions, If you get stuck just post your questions on here. Don't forget that if you pay an Agent it will still cost you the Visa fee and the Agency fees. Nobody can guarantee your visa so don't go for the Guaranteed visa line.

Am going through a similair process at the moment. As has been said there is loads of help here and pinned on a forum step by step instructions. Great thing about this site is you can ask anything and there are people willing to take the time to answer. Some very nolegable people here.

I would suggest your wife get her TB x ray done ASAP.

If you dont mind me asking what part of Wales are you in.

All the best with the application

5 years ago I did it all myself. Look carefully at the instructions and documentation needed. Of particular importance is proof of relationship which means you should have proof of emails, phone calls etc from the time you met your wife. In my case they looked at 2years of stuff. Photos of wedding doesn't make a blind bit of difference to them. Proof of income should be genuine and above all DO NOT try and bu...sh.t. Bear in mind that they will have prior knowledge before the interview and their questions will be structured in a way where you could contradict yourself. A friend of mine got caught out on information they denied and the result it took a long long time with appeals before he managed to get his wife to the UK! Length of time it takes will be on the site but expect quite a few months!

Thanks very much for all of the replies. I appreciate that there are many people on here who have much more knowledge on this subject than myself and i am very grateful for all help offered.

I have in the past done 1 tourist visa and now 3 settlement visa applicatons.

I have been reading posts here for the past year or more.

I have found this site to be very good. Most good advise.

Any questions you have can be answered in minutes there are some very cleaver people on here 7by7, summit (Think that was his username) and others all have helped me.

I now feel confident to even reply with my opinion something I would never of done a year ago.

So if you have the time search through this web site all information can be found. In the end if you can fill in a form you can do it yourself.
