:D not sure if the name is correct but i know one can do visa run to this island, and there is a casino on it, up past Ranong, i have never been to a casino, this seems to be the nearest

whilst i have travelled the whole of Thailands borders, i have not crossed over to have look at the many casinos just over the border in other area's :)

I sure that some of you have been to this island and been in the casino. i just want to play pontoon or blackjack just for the fun, so directions please , i also want to get off the island for a while thanks, make a change wont it, random chance by name and nature

This is the place you're thinking of. They have their own immigration at the disembarking jetty on the Thai side. Not much to say about the hotel, pretty boring to me. Didn't have a golf course when i last went 5yrs ago.

NOTE the Casino has a dress code; long pants and collared shirts for men. I only brought shorts and was not allowed in.

I did a that visa run some time ago so ill give you a short run down from memory..

Coming from BK it is a pretty long drive, we were taking it easy and i think it was around 6-7 hours from Hua-hin.

You will see on this map...heading south where you take a right turn off the 41 (instead of left to Chum pon) to take the number 4 to Ranong

As for the NO 4, its not a bad drive as far as scenery, can get a little windy at places and you might have to be on the lookout for trucks and other maniacs but we had no great dramas.

In Rayong we found our way via street signs to the hot springs, and got a non discript but nice aircon room in a double storey hotel..just up from the left hand turn into the springs for about 700 if i recall.

The hot springs are definately worth a look if your after something to do in the afternoon/night, but i think the place winds down around 9ish.

Ill leave details of the natural springs themselves as a suprise, as did the poster i read from, but i will say to take a towel and swimmers as there a few nice looking spa places you can visit, not to expensive and theres a rather nice but once again very quite restaurant up the end of the road near to the edge of the forest.

As for the casino thing i would defiantely reccomend the Andamon visa trip tour on the big boat. You should find information posters and flyers everywhere but every hotel reception would know the tour and can book it for you.

I think it was about 8 or 900 baht from memory and included the visa fee for the day trip. If you have a Thai lady with you it will be 3 or 400 for them as there is no visa fee.

I was advised NOT to get one of the long boats and do it myself, although they are a little cheaper you would have to barter (so maybe 400) but once you are out on the water you will appreciate getting the big boat instead.

A guy will pick you up at the hotel and arrange virtually all the visa stuff for that end,you get on the boat, hand in passport, go to the casino, come back later for passport, back to the boat, get back over to the Thai side to get stamped back in, then back to the hotel.

One thing I discovered is it would have been very difficult if i had to find my own way to the immigration point/jetty where the boat takes off so in that regard i think this was a hassle-free way to do it and not hugely expensive.

The casino is nice, very expensive for food and drinks but good to have a look around at the grounds and pool areas, ect.

Im not sure about the gambling part, i think there is upstairs areas for blackjack and whatnot but we visited the small downstairs poker machine room and threw a couple of hundred baht in a slot, stayed there the whole time and walked out with 600 so that was very suprising.

Others seemed to be doing their cash at the rate of knots though (the kind machine we were on was an ozzie style boxing kangaroo incidently hehe)

So all up i thought it was a decent trip if you've done all the usual borders and are bored of them. Immigration points were very very quite, no waiting or dramas and it was definately the most relaxed and hassle free run ive ever done in LOS...offset is the long drive time but its not an issue if you are heading south to Krabi or Phukhet and want to have a casual look about. Also some nice markets in the middle of Ranong, good village food and very cheap fruit.

good luck with it anyway...be sure to let us know what you do

Go to Kiat Travel on Chumphon to arrange your trip to the Andaman Club. They have a daily minibus Visa Run service and have a good reputation for service and reliability.

Farang Bar and Fame can also arrange the ticket but the service will be from Kiat (same Soi as Farang Bar).

This is the only daily door to door service to the Andaman Club and it departs Chumphorn between 12:30-1:00pm depending delays in the ferry schedule from Koh Tao.

Andaman Club use the largest boats and they are all enclosed and even have a good set of safety equipment. The number of Mercedes, BMWs, Volvos etc at their carpark is evidence of the status of the Thais going to the casino.

Normally you are only at the casino for approx 1 hour if you are doing a Visa Run but the overnight rates are very reasonable and you could return the following day.

I have never encountered problems after regular trips over the last 10 years or so. Normally 3-4 trips there each year.

Just had a friend go there, he told me he was the only Farang in the casino.

Everybody was playing Pai Gao poker and other Asian card games.

He said they did open up a blackjack table for him though, but he ended up being the only player.

He said "o.k. fun", not anything to write home about....
