Hi all as a new face in this forum I would like to compliment the moderator and guys that post, very interesting.

Can any one tell me who apart from Thai interviewers, who makes the final decisions on approvals?

I have a Thai fiancee whom has been offered employment in Australia and has a letter of that offer, but how ever myself I'm on a Pension and work part time but don't have a high income.I get the feeling they will ask for an Assurance Of Support,is this normal or am I just getting on edge as every one does while waiting? :o

Can you clarify if your fiancee is applying for a Work Visa or a Fiancee Visa? At the end of the day who actually makes the decision for granting the application is somewhat irrelevant as all they are doing is following guidelines/processes.

Sorry a fiancee visa.problem is if they told you very clear about guidelines before you submitted the application it would be fine, but when you read the migration booklet it doesn't tell all and when talking of guidelines when that happens it seems a little unfair.

For instance if you are an eligible NZ citizen living in Australia you need a Police clearance from the Federal Police(which takes 35days)and a full medical that has to be paid for by the sponsor. :D

you may need to clarify things a bit more mate, the police clearance is required for a visa (309) as well as a medical are all done by Thai doctors and police, the AFP only come into it when you are getting your PR visa.

As I am still a New Zealand citizen and been living in Australia since 1974 and applied for Aussie Citizenship in January this year and had the interview,I'm waiting for the certificate through a ceremony.

I did ring the imigration and confirmed that an eligible NZ citizen are required to take a medical and a Federal Police Check.

Mind you we are still waiting for a letter from Immigration in bangkok to clarify their needs and were advised to wait until that letter arrives, that doesn't speed a Fiancee visa Application up does it,no wonder it taks so long.
