17 years ago by now , 1987 , we decided to create a show , which should be different , - how that ? ! In the show bussiness many curtains were red , many legs were long and feathers on top of all. And yet , there was that vision and that urge to try - and since we do. With red curtains and long legs and feathers , too and with that one shining detail , which is by now CALYPSO's trademark.

The human being's natural beauty - live on stage.

We constantly strip down decorations and costumes to the bare necessities. We minimize choreographic ambitions and create choreographies , which highlight the specific talents and abilities of our actors and actresses. We do not cater to any markets or fashions or trends.

The overload and without any doubt the overkill of today's frenzies of the media world are verifying our concept of reduction.

Daily training of physical stamina , daily rehearsal of the current show and new productions , try to regain daily our motivation not to copy , not to reproduce the traded cliches and stereotypes.

It's said : If you 've seen one , you 've seen them all. Well if you travel to Thailand and stay in Bangkok , plan to see our show. It will give you an unseen and unheard-of experience.

Calypso Cabret I found is one of the best. Entertaining and fast paced. 1000 Baht is the cost. Parents were here last month and they both enjoyed it. But if you book through Thai Travel Agents you can get buffet dinner included before the show for around 1200. As far as bringing children...hmmm...really no point - they would not enjoy it, as it like taking kids to see a live broadway play. Not enough to keep them interested. Anyway that's my 2cents worth!

Stupid of me...should have known by the phrase "cabaret show" that they really mean a katoey show. If that's all, they have one in Washington Square, in Sukhumvit area just off Soi 22 (no idea how much though) and also at least a couple of them (probably more) in Pattaya.

Can't see any reason to take kids to a katoey show at all - my kids are Thai/farang and have been in Bangkok all their lives, so seeing a katoey is nothing for them to "write home" about - they wouldn't be the slightest bit interested.

My wife and I saw one of these shows some years ago, and although there is a certain attraction as a "spectacular" stage show, I don't have any wish to go again.

...good for the tourists and relatives on short visits though...not something you see back in farang-ville UK/USA or Australia that much I would guess...

I'm not, John. You'd have to have been there to appreciate the "girls". It wasn't a show in that there were any overt acts of "lewdness"- just a bunch of incredibly good-looking kai-tais as the Chinese call 'em.

Lee Kwan Yew in his efforts to "clean up" Singapore and make it the sterile place it is eventually closed it down... :D

If you're not really dead keen on seeing a tranny caberet, I'd highly recommend the Siam Niramit show any day. Great production. Show plus dinner around 1500THB I think.
