Just got back from a visa run to PErth.

It was great, I had with me invitation letter from GF, proof of funds, copy of GF's ID card, her house reg. book, my yellow house reg.book, application form + additional form they have on their website.

Gave my passport at 9am picked it up the same day with multiple non O at 11am.

Perth it self is a lovely city really had a good time, stayed at the comfort hotel on 200 Hay street price is around 125 AUD/night (for those on a budget, there are cheaper places around).

Flight with air asia, found the seating to be a bit narrow so when leaving Perth I asked if it was possible to upgrade to their Premier class which was possible for 114AUD, made the flight back a lot more comfy.

I actually liked it so much that we decided to go back for a longer holiday with GF once legally married.

This beats waiting in line at the embassy in KL.

Great people the aussies, one of the best short trips I have made in years.

Definitely recommend to all.

nice feedback, glad you enjoyed perth and aussie hospitality. This might not suit everyone but i did a trip to kota baru in n/e malaysia(ok its not far from samui)went with a visa run company from samui and got my non O immigration visa with them, total cost 7500 baht.Having said that,i was changing from a retirement extension to the non O,and had to show 400,000 baht in my account,so not everyone would necesarily wont to do it this way as i believe getting the same visa in perth you would n't have to show those funds.

THe Honary Consol at perth has been doing this for at least 50 years. He had a strong love for Thailand and did a lot to help Thai Australian relationships and rganizaations in Perth at that time. He is a loverly Gentleman as is the lady at the desk who has been there for many years. They are great people and will help anyone to the extent of their abilities. I will be sad when they retire at last, it will be like missing an old friend.

Who are you working for the Aussie tourist board ??....LOL...

7 hours BKK-Perth aint a short trip to get a visa

Krabi Kl = 1.15 hour

KL Perth = 5.3 hours

And was a nice trip, a break from the 3rd world we live in, next year going again taking GF with me and going for longer.

I always find it strange, once people live here they tend not to go on holidays outside of Thailand anymore.

I go on holidays outside Thailand very frequently just to get my sanity back, for little while anyways

Lol, same here I need the short trips. being from Europe it was my first time in Oz and was quite impressed, that's why next year GF can go with me.

I even took pics of the little cars driving around cleaning the streets :)

Couldnt agree more, my many experiences at the Perth Consulate have all been positive, the lady at the desk is a gem.
