Want To Order Custom Silver Wedding Bands

Recommended Posts

My husband and I will be traveling to Bangkok in early March. We have a few wedding band designs in mind- nothing too fancy and are wondering if anyone has any advice about where we can order 2 custom-made silver rings for a reasonable price- and ideally in a short amount of time(3-4 days)???

I'd REALLY appreciate any advice or tips you might be able to give...haven't been able to turn anything specific up online. Thanks!!!

Silver?

While getting silver bands made CAN be done in Thailand, it won't be that fast for custom work. Silver is not an ideal metal for a constant wear ring.

Would gold be better???

Faster???

We prefer silver to gold as far as color goes- but may be able to compromise...maybe a light gold or platinum?

Any more ideas as far as silver goes?

We've had our current silver rings for more than 7 years now- and they're still in good shape-we were just hoping to have something more original custom made if possible...

White gold or platinum typically would be better. The issue with custom jewelry is that the wax needs to be cut, then the mold made. then the ring made (this is the lost wax method) and then the ring finished. Since you are wanting two rings this process must be done twice.

Best bet (imho) is to wander around to jewelry makers and find something already made that is a one-off or at least not mass produced by a big jeweler.

Hello OP, As anther poster stated silver is not an ideal metal to wear all the time. it will oxidize in no time looking 'dirty". I do not wear yellow gold and prefer white metals. My wife had a bronze amulet statue and a 21 yellow gold amulet casing micron in White gold which she gave to me when we married. Her wedding band was also micron in White gold as it brought out the diamonds in her ring much better than yellow.

If a gold shop does not do micron plating most can point you in the direction of someone who does. You can probably get 2 rings plated for around 1000 baht. You may have to get them plated again at some point down the road, but usually after 2 plating's you will not have to worry.

If you are just looking for bands 18 karat white gold can be bought in BKK. This is where my wife bought my white gold wedding band. keep in mind that white gold only goes as high as 18 karat, and for constant wear you do not want to go higher (yellow or white).
